The future with vision – ITS Niedersachsen

Over ten years of intensive work, patience and sustained effort were necessary in order to integrate people, technologies, structures, topics, science and economics as well as public authorities into one process, bearing the name of „ITS Niedersachsen“.

With the establishment of ITS Niedersachsen, the initial setup and development phase as „GZVB – Gesamtzentrum für Verkehr Braunschweig“ has officially been concluded. This entails the clear assignment and requirement of acting as a neutral representative for the whole of the Niedersachsen region, now on the national and international scene, and of thereby representing topics focused on intelligent transport systems and services. The demand of safety critical applications on technology, processing and evaluation denotes the competence and core know-how of ITS Niedersachsen.

The basic conditions of future developments are determined during current economic, political and technological discussions as the basis for direction. For necessary ideas and devoted concrete measures, the ITS Niedersachsen team is willing to discuss these conditions, identify them and then implement them in concrete projects, collectively with its members and partners.

In doing so, global topics of discussion remain in close relation to one another and we consider them both individually and complementarily to each other, in order to reach cohesive methods of resolution with high synergy. The emphasis is placed on:

•    Mobility (modal transportation)
•    Energy/Environment/Safety
•    Demographic change
•    Education and higher education

Current projects and technological developments such as CAR 2 CAR Communication Consortium, Satellite Navigation GPS/EGNOS/GALILEO, Driver Assistance Systems, eCall and the collaboration with partners in the region and in Germany help us to realise the vision of a greener, safer and innovative form of mobility for the welfare of the population and the economy.
